![]() ![]() ![]() I love the ascended forms and being able to go super saiyan on an enemy that's giving me trouble, I like that the game and bosses are actually challenging, I love the Warhammer-inspired aesthetic, and I like how the multi-floor rifts at end game get more difficult and offered more loot, with a chance to sell after each boss, but that's not enough to carry a game.Īlso the game is built on CryEngine, which is notoriously unfriendly to low-end PCs. Most of the worst bugs have been fixed, but that's about it, which is concerning for a game that, aside from the lengthy early access period, went 1.0 in February of this year. Also I think the willpower/rage resource system isn't terribly well-realized. US$40 is way too steep for a game that spent 5 years in early access, launched into 1.0 with most of the promised features and content having been cut, a whole host of game-breaking bugs, a passive tree (a-la PoE) where 80% of the nodes straight up didn't work, an end-game with even less interesting content than D3, gear that is so over-powered I beat the game using a level 2 unique weapon I bought for like 1,000 gold from the unique item vendor in the first zone because everything else that dropped was trash, and balance problems so bad the meta builds are like facerolling with WRend barb on T10 and the off-meta builds are like trying to play old LoD frenzy barb on GR130 - and that's not even mentioning that trying to play a spell caster is the definition of futile. To anyone considering buying Wolcen: don't.
